Savannah Airport Demolition - January 2018
The old airport terminal building opened in 1964 and served as the airport’s home until the current terminal building opened in 1994. In 1983, the airport officially became known as the Savannah International Airport.
Our company, Southeast Demolition, got the opportunity to step back in time and tear down a piece of history. The demolition began on January 23, 2018 and took seven months to do so. The Savannah Airport Commission voted to lease 24 acres of land to the Savannah Development Authority which will pave the way for a new aerospace development. The land is currently being leased from Gulfstream Aerospace and houses hangers used for their jets.
This project consisted of using our High Reach Excavator, along with others and crushing tons of concrete on site.
